Are you restless?
Is it impossible for you to relax?
Do your friends and family complain you worry too much? Is it difficult for you to sit down and relax? Many women with anxiety find that they can never enjoy Netflix the way everyone else seems too. Maybe you can’t focus or you have the same thought playing over and over like a broken record. In fact, this rumination (that broken record) can make it nearly impossible to fall asleep. Once you do fall asleep, is it fitful and do you wake frequently in the night (for non bathroom purposes)? This could be your anxiety.
Anxiety can have physical and emotional symptoms.
You may have multiple symptoms of anxiety. Common ones include:
- Stomach issues including IBS
- Changes in appetite
- Jaw clenching
- Difficulty sleeping
- Constant worry
- Poor concentration
- Going to the worst case scenario easily
- Repetitive thoughts
- Intrusive thoughts
Do you often feel like you are missing out?
The worst part of anxiety is that it keeps you from living your best life. It robs you of the joy of now. Or at least, the contentment of now. You are so consumed with what did happen or what will happen that you can’t experience what is happening. Maybe you are beating yourself up because you are not enjoying the present – your mind refuses to let you just be. There is help.
Medication and counseling can help treat anxiety.
We will find a medication that can assist in relieving theses uncomfortable symptoms and get you back to you. Medication alone is typically not the full answer but it can help you feel well enough to incorporate positive coping tools and healthy habits that can improve your anxiety.
You don’t need a reason to be anxious but a global pandemic and a contentious political race surely do not help us feel calm. We can not control these things nor can we control most of the external stressors in our personal lives. However, we can learn to cope with our thoughts so they don’t have as big an impact on us emotionally. This does not mean keeping your head in the sand or becoming indifferent. It means harnessing your internal reserves and learning new tools to weather theses storms. This is not “grin and bear it”. It is about becoming resourceful and powerful. We delight in helping women achieve this.
We can help you with your anxiety, this is what we do.
We have years of experience helping women like you. Our nurse practitioners know how hard it is and also know you can feel so much better. So much lighter!
Yoga is moving meditation that can help reduce anxiety along with medication.
Nurtured Well, LLC’s approach to treating anxiety
Our clinicians take a holistic approach to treating your anxiety. First, we start with a comprehensive evaluation. Once complete, we discuss medication options with you. This is a joint process because want you to feel comfortable with the medication choice and will always include you in developing the treatment plan. Examples of medicines we typically prescribe for anxiety include Lexapro, Zoloft, Effexor, and Buspar.
In addition to medication for anxiety, our clinicians teach you how to use coping skills. This is because medicine alone is not always enough to control anxiety. Lastly, we will look at what you eat and drink. For example, a glass of wine a night can make sleep and anxiety markedly worse. Likewise, excessive caffeine and sugar can also make you more anxious.
What is holding you back?
Some women avoid getting medicine for their anxiety because, well, they are too anxious to start. Maybe you are worried about side effects or if it will change your personality? Rest assured, when medication is prescribed and monitored properly it brings you to your best you.
Perhaps, it is trying to find the time for your appointment in an already crazy schedule? We understand how over-scheduled you are and therefore offer early morning, weekend, and evening hours. More importantly, once your anxiety is controlled, you will feel more in control of your time.
Certainly cost can be a factor. We understand that not taking insurance is a barrier to some but want to point out that many insurances will reimburse you. Furthermore, we never charge extra for emails or phone calls outside of your appointment like most insurance based practices do. Our patients appreciate the extra access and reassurance this provides.
