Dr. Jendayi Gantt is a dually board certified Nurse-Midwife and Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with more than 18 years of experience in direct patient care. Dr. Gantt holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Morgan State University and then earned her BSN and MSN in nurse-midwifery from the University Of Maryland School of Nursing. She worked as a high risk labor and delivery, postpartum, and OB/GYN perioperative nurse for 6 years at the University of Maryland Medical Center. She then advanced to work as a nurse-midwife in a variety of settings, in and out of the US.
Dr. Gantt felt a deep calling to help increase access for maternal mental health care and returned to school, earning her post-master’s certification in family psychiatric nursing from George Washington University.
She recognized the serious disconnect between medical and emotional support for women. In efforts to master the elements needed to offer innovative, quality improvement measures in healthcare, Dr. Gantt returned to school again and earned her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Frontier Nursing University. Her Doctoral quality improvement project focused on implementing a web based mindfulness stress reduction training program for a group of over 40 adults. This project was very successful and the mindfulness group was able to improve their mindful awareness and reduce perceived stress levels by 24% in an 8 week timeframe.
Dr. Gantt is now continuing her mindfulness training and is studying to become a mindfulness meditation teacher in efforts to help increase access to holistic web based stress reduction services during such an emotionally stressful time in our society.
Dr. Gantt is available on Saturdays to help you with your medication needs. She sees women throughout Maryland via tele-health. Email now to see her.
